Most museums in DC are free, but some of the popular ones will require you to pick a time slot online. Make sure you look up if your desired museum(s) require a reservation!
Georgetown is a beautiful part of Washington DC. M Street is full of shopping and restaurants, but it gets very busy. We recommend venturing off to the side streets for the same vibe and barely any crowd.
The Wharf is a great area to see DC's waterfront. Kirwan's on the Wharf and Tiki TNT are the bars we prefer in this area.
We highly recommend visiting Old Town if you have the time. On King Street, you will find a collection of shops, restaurants and bars. Old Town is on the water and is made up of the colorful historic row homes. You can Uber or Metro to Old Town. We like to go via Capital Bikeshare. There is a great bike trail from DC, and the beers are more rewarding after the ride! If you visit Old Town, our favorite bar is Augie's Mussel House and Beer Garden.
Our recommendations: Bagels ETC (breakfast or lunch), Clyde's, Martin's Tavern, Compliments Only Subs, Tiger Fork, Anju, Filomena Restaurant, Chicken and Whiskey, The Bottom Line, Old Ebbitt Grill, Casta’s Rum Bar, The Bazaar by José Andrés (in the Waldorf)
Our recommendations: The Bottom Line, Tilt, Pearl Dive, Aslin, Dacha Beer Garden (both locations are good), Blackfinn (weeknights only), Player's Club Rooftop, Vue Rooftop If you are looking for a strip of multiple bars, our favorite is 14th Street
We are constantly on Capital Bikeshare and we highly recommend it for a way to get around the city! DC has great bike lanes, and the mall is also a perfect place to hop on a bike. Bikeshare is cheap, accessible and easy to use. You will see the red bikes all over town.
