Sydney’s side: Tyler and I met at Highlands College. We had similar close friends (Ellie & Garrett… who are both now married and in our bridal party!!). It all started in March 2019, when Ellie asked me to come to one of her brothers baseball games with her. It just so happen that she also invited Tyler and Garrett to come with us. Tyler and I hadn’t really known each other well at this point, but we both had thought each other was cute haha. Tyler purposefully made a point to to sit beside me this night. Tyler and I ended up talking for a good 3 hours that night! I remember starting to really like Tyler at this point and could see a future with him. This night is always a sweet memory for us to look back on because it shows us how God started to write our stories together. Our relationship wasn’t immediate after that point, because we were both waiting for the right timing to start dating. We became really great friends. Fast forward a few months to October 2019, when Tyler officially asks me on a date! Tyler has been the greatest blessing to me. Our relationship has been full of laughter and fun. Falling in love with each other really felt like a Taylor Swift love song haha. I can’t wait to see what the future will hold for us!
Tyler’s side: I knew I wanted to marry Sydney a month after we started dating, but it was just a matter of when. As soon as I had the finances for a ring I started trying to figure out how to start the process. It was challenging due to Covid and her parents being in another country. Me and Sydney both knew that this was what God wanted for our lives and we knew that we couldn’t do life without the other. I ended up having a conversation with her dad once a week for about a month. Her dad asked me questions, but both he and Sydney’s mom knew it was right so we ended up just talking more about life and ministry. Getting to know her dad was a blessing because I got to see how God placed me with the right in-law’s. After a month went by I finally called him to ask him the big question. I was more nervous that I would try to rush the conversation because I had been waiting for almost a year. As he gave me his blessing I could hear Sydney’s mom crying in the background because she was so happy and excited for us. I didn’t wait one minute to drive to a store and buy a ring. Once the ring came in, I knew exactly where I would propose. It was a place called the “Lookout” that most Birmingham citizens knew, but to me and Sydney it was one of our favorite places because of the memories we had being there throughout our relationships. I took Sydney and some friends there to impress her before we dated… and it worked. I love this memory of getting down on one knee to a girl that God picked out for me. Sydney is the joy and love of my life and I cannot believe that we get to do life together
