recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket for the evening (Texans, we’re looking at you). For a visual guide, feel free to copy and paste the link below into your browser to check out the moodboard: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ASa3oEZAC3BjnN2g7
Gentlemen are expected to wear a tuxedo. If a tuxedo is not available, the only alternative is a black suit with a black tie. Ladies are asked to wear floor-length gowns or formal evening attire. We kindly encourage that everyone keep attire formal and polished to match the elegance of the evening.
While suits and tuxedos may look similar at first glance, they are designed for different levels of formality. A suit is made from the same fabric throughout and is typically worn with a standard dress shirt and necktie, making it appropriate for business or cocktail attire. A tuxedo is specifically designed for formal occasions and features satin details on the lapels, buttons, and a stripe down the pant leg, and is traditionally worn with a tuxedo shirt and black bow tie. For a black-tie wedding, a tuxedo (black or midnight blue only) is the appropriate and expected choice.
Not at all! Black tie refers to the level of formality, not the color. Guests are encouraged to wear formal evening attire — tuxedos for men, and floor-length gowns for women. Feel free to embrace color, prints, and personal style while keeping the look elevated and formal.
Since the ceremony will take place on grass, we recommend skipping stilettos or thin heels. Block heels, wedges, or dressy flats are perfect for staying stylish without sinking. Feel free to bring a second pair of shoes for later if you'd like—we fully support a mid-party footwear switch!
Your invitation will indicate if a plus-one has been included. As much as we’d love to celebrate with everyone, we’re working within limited space and truly appreciate your understanding.
We adore your little ones and understand how important family is. However, due to limited space, we’re unable to accommodate all children at the wedding. Please refer to your invitation to see exactly who is included. We truly hope this allows you to relax, unwind, and enjoy the celebration with us. Thank you for your understanding and we can’t wait to celebrate together!
Early August in Bay Harbor is typically warm and sunny, with daytime highs around 80°F and evenings cooling off into the 60s. That Lake Michigan breeze loves to make a surprise appearance after sunset (Texans, consider this your warning). If you tend to run cold, bring a light jacket, wrap, or cardigan — especially for those waterfront moments.
If you’re visiting from out of town, we highly recommend renting a car. While shuttle service will be provided from select hotels on the day of the ceremony, having a rental car will make it easier to explore the area, since rideshares like Uber and Lyft aren’t very common here.
Uber and other Rideshare options are limited in Northern Michigan, and shuttle service will only be provided from select hotels. For the safety of all guests, we strongly encourage careful planning of your transportation to avoid any instances of drinking and driving.
We kindly ask that you keep phones and cameras tucked away during the ceremony. We’ve hired an amazing photographer to capture the moment, and we’d love for you to be fully present with us—taking it all in and enjoying the brides. Thank you so much for understanding!
