The Proposal

In January, I was dropping Jim off to watch the Ravens game downtown. As I flipped the visor down, out comes a pamphlet with a diamond on the front and a thank you card! I quickly handed it to Jim and neither of us said another word. It's now February. I dropped my phone under the passenger seat of Jim's car. I go to retrieve my phone and there's the opened (!!) USPS box from a jeweler (he needs a better hiding spot). Later that night, Jim told me he had planned to propose that day. Fast forward to our trip to Williamsburg in May. Before heading to Yorktown, Jim told me I should change and we should take a picture later. Weird. Two things Jim has NEVER said in 5 years. A storm rolled in so we walked right into town. As we’re walking I thought, why does Jim keep putting his hands in his pockets? Weird. So we continue down the beach and Jim’s head is on a swivel. I thought he was taking in the sights... apparently he was looking for someone to take our picture to document the proposal. We walk towards the end of the beach and find a spot to take in the view. We dip our feet in the water and as I turn around he grabs both my hands and I think WHAT?! but he didn’t say anything so I awkwardly laughed and went to sit on a log to take in the view. Jim asks if I want to take a picture. I’m thinking wow, he is really anticipating my want to take a picture. I like it! We prop up the phone and set it to self-timer. Jim says the lighting is horrible, let’s find another spot. The fact that Jim asked me to take the picture was one thing but for him to say the lighting is horrible, let’s find a new spot? WEIRD. Really going above and beyond! So we changed locations, propped the phone up again and took another self timed picture. Jim says it looks great and he’ll set it up take another. He sets it up, jogs back and drops to his knee! After 5 months of wondering when, how, and where as well as many hours spent painting my nails, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect moment!

For all the days along the way
