We first met in 2017, in one of Syd's first days in Norway as a foreign exchange student on a Rotary scholarship. We kept in touch through social media over the years and met again in 2023 while traveling in Paris, and knew our connection was something special beyond just a vacation fling. Over the next year, we maintained a long distance relationship across our two continents while visiting each other when we had the opportunity to do so. In December of 2023, Ivar visited the US for the first time (Buc-ee's totally blew his Scandinavian mind). Syd came back to Norway for a music festival and a road trip across the west coast -and a detour to Copenhagen- in summer 2024. In 2025, we moved together to Brisbane, Australia, on a working holiday visa and were able to finally be together in the same time zone. Ivar proposed with an Australian opal ring on a trip to North Stradbroke Island and we are so excited to celebrate with all of our loved ones in both of our home countries!
