There's this saying that goes something like "the best things in life happen unexpectedly". Well, I think it's safe to say Logan has been one of the best things to happen to me. The story of how we met is definitely a funny one. It all started freshman year, technically my second day on campus. I had just moved in and was starting to get settled into my new home away from home. My roommate and I had decided to go to one of the welcome week events being held by several of the clubs and organizations on campus. We mingled with other new freshmen and eventually ran into Logan, his roommate, and an old friend of mine. We all spent the rest of that night together and got to know each other a little bit. At some point in the night, we even exchanged contact information. As the night came to an end we started to get those late-night cravings for some greasy food. So we all agreed on Chick-fil-A, mainly because at the time it was the only thing open on campus. Well as luck would have it, the tea at Chick-fil-A was not as good as that Mississippi boy was used to. Little did he know, I had brewed some fresh tea earlier that day and was willing to share. I invited Logan and his roommate back to my dorm with my roommate and I truly believe it was love at first sip. From there Logan and I started hanging out more and eventually made plans to get a meal together. It was breakfast before our first classes of freshman year, which we just so happened to have across the hall from each other. And in the campus caf, but none the less that quickly became our thing and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you had told me back then what offering a glass of good sweet tea to a goofy aviation major from Mississippi could do for me, I wouldn’t have believed you. But boy, am I sure glad I did.
Of course, I think every guy wants to pull off the perfect proposal while having the level of secrecy that even the CIA would be impressed with. By the time I was done with it all, I had Lindsay believing she had organized the entire ordeal. With that being said, we had been engagement ring hunting for the better half of late 2019 and around Christmas, I finally found what I thought was hers. Now I just had to figure out how to ask without it being obvious. Lindsay was graduating from college shortly in March and still needed to take Senior Pictures. I quickly got in touch with a wonderful friend of ours that just so happens to takes amazing pictures and we conspired the entire plan. But before the plan was to come together, I needed to get the blessing from her father. On a cold day in January it just so happened that my boss and I were making a trip to Texas and back with a few stops in between. So with a few messages exchanged we agreed to meet in Mansfield, LA again without a soul knowing. Lindsay got in touch with the photographer and thought she had the whole day planned. We got together on January 19th to do her senior photoshoot and I hid the ring in the camera bag. At the very end of the day, we acted like we were gonna do some photos of myself and Lindsay and after snapping a few pictures I turned and asked her to marry me. From our time we spent together in college, those morning breakfast runs before class, pizza dates and Stranger Things on Netflix, to the countless hours we spend on FaceTime catching each other up on the day. I love you so much Lindsay and I cannot wait for us to be able to start our lives together. -Logan
