For those of you who don't already know, Jeff and I actually met through Tinder (you can laugh!). It has sort of become a running joke among our families and friends. I don't think either one of us expected anything crazy to come out of hanging out with a stranger we met online, but I don't think we left each other's side after that first date! I remember just a few weeks into knowing each other I told my mom I was going to marry this man someday, and now here we are!
For a few months, Jeff and I planned to get some updated photos taken to use around our house. Jeff set it up with our friend Kinlee who doubles as a talented photographer. We decided we should do the photos at my family's lake house because it is meaningful for us both. I have spent every summer at that house since the day I was born and it is the place I am the happiest. Since Jeff and I have been together, we have spent many summer weekends here with our family and friends. When the time finally came, Jeff and I got all dressed up and headed to the lake. As we pulled up to the house, Jeff told me I had to put on a blindfold. This is truly the first time I had any indication that something big was about to happen! He made me walk all the way from the top of the hill to the dock (in high heels) blindfolded. If you have been to the lake house you know this is a trek! I was cussing him the whole way because he almost let me bust my butt a couple of times on the rough terrain. When we finally made it to the bottom, Jeff told me I could finally take off my blindfold and he was on one knee, surrounded by our families, with the perfect engagement ring. I think this was the first time I had ever seen Jeff so nervous he couldn't get his words out! After the initial excitement and shock of his proposal, Jeff had one more surprise in store when he had our closest friends show up to celebrate with us. What a perfect day!
