Dave and Rachel, each for their own reasons, were both on Match.com at the same time. Rachel quickly became a bit exhausted of it after a while, and so made a deal with herself: she'd log on one last time, and message the profiles of three men she would otherwise be intimidated by. Whether it was due to their age, station in life, good looks, or in Dave's case: ALL 3, she would otherwise not have been brave enough to, but knowing she'd most likely never hear back and was logging off for good anyway, she pulled the trigger! David responded within minutes, and the rest, as they say is history! They spoke for several months via telephone before deciding to meet for a walk in Congress park. They agreed to meet at the Park's famous Carousel. Rachel maintains that as she saw him walking toward her on that bright sunny day, she knew instantly that something amazing was about to happen. The first hug felt like home; a feeling of warmth that only continues to grow today!
Since Dave and Rachel met 4 1/2 years ago, they have bonded most strongly over their faith in God and their walk with Him as they do life. So Dave found it the most exciting and appropriate to propose on the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior! Rachel's Mom Lynn has made her new home quite close to the park in Saratoga where Dave and Rachel first met. Everyone gathered at Lynn's for Christmas and they all ate, and drank, and spent a wonderful evening exchanging love and trinkets. Little did Rachel know, Dave had one more gift. On the way out he suggested they drive around (as they often do) and take one last look at all of the beautiful Holiday lights downtown. After doing so they turned for home, but instead of passing it, Dave stopped in the parking lot across from the Carousel where they first met and suggested a Christmas walk. Not a soul in sight, and with clear skies it seemed like fun! They got to their beautiful Carousel which happened to be lit up, seemingly just for them. Dave asked Rachel which horse was her favorite, so she gleefully flitted around looking for one that was as pretty as her own horse. She took in all the details of the gold and silver painted manes and red and green saddles, carefully weighing her preferences. Nearly all the way around she settled on a dapple gray beauty with his neck reared, a golden mane, and red saddle. She excitedly turned to David to show him, and to her surprise, he was in his knee! A simple "Will You Marry Me," and one VERY excited hug later, they were engaged!! In all the excitement, Rachel could only think of marrying her favorite person, so they shared a giggle as Dave actually had to ask her if she wanted to see her ring! She put it on, fell in love all over again, and can't wait to spend forever with the man who walks beside her as they live their best life.
