Getting to Varenna
We recommend flying into the Milan Malpensa Airport. From there we have provided directions on how to get to Varenna on Lake Como. By Car: (90-120 Minutes depending on traffic) Uber and Sixt are available as rideshare services and car rental is available at the airport. By Train: (120 Minutes) From Milan Malpensa Airport, take the Malpensa Express (MXP) to the Milan Centrale train station (13 euros, 54 minutes). Directions to the Malpensa Express inside the Milan Malpensa Airport: https://www.malpensaexpress.it/en/lines-and-timetable/how-to-reach-malpensa/reaching-terminal-1/ From Milan Centrale, take the train to the Varenna Esino station (65 minutes, 7-10 euros). We recommend purchasing tickets online at www.trenord.it/en/ but tickets may also be purchased at the airport and in the Milan Centrale station. Please note tickets must be purchased separately for each leg online (Malpensa Express-Milano Centrale and then Milano Centrale-Varenna Esino). Online sales are currently available through June, as of 1.14.23. Since it's only a 60-minute train ride to Varenna, 1st and 2nd Class tickets will be a similar experience. Once you're on the train, sit on the left side for the best views of the Lake (starting at Lecco).
