Joey transferred to La Salle Academy in the fall of 2009 and sat behind Danielle in chemistry class. They were introduced by mutual friends and began attending each other's hockey games and gymnastics meets each weekend. Joey asked Danielle to be his girlfriend on February 14, 2010 and the rest is history!

Joey and Danielle often visit Beavertail during the spring and summer months, so when Joey told Danielle about his plan of heading to Beavertail for sunset and getting dinner afterward, she thought it was going to be an ordinary date night. After arriving at Beavertail, Joey stopped to grab a "jacket" out of the trunk where he was hiding the ring box. While walking down to the cliffs, Joey set a camera in the sand where he told Danielle they would be taking pictures. Instead of taking pictures, the camera was recording and captured Joey as he got down on one knee and asked Danielle to marry him. After Danielle finally caught her breath from crying, she said yes!
