HOW THEY MET

12.23.2012

'Twas two nights before Christmas and all through the pubs, not a creature was sober, except for little Bubs. The drinks were all poured so heavily with care, in hopes that one’s soulmate would soon be there... Sarah and Eddie had several encounters prior to the Christmas Bambi Walk in 2012, but the stars did not align. The first time they met was back in high school when Sarah, a sophomore, and her friends tagged along with some seniors to Oaks Day at the track. Eddie says he remembers seeing Sarah that day and thinking, "She's really cute." However, Eddie had a girlfriend at the time. Fast forward to Parent’s Weekend 2010 at the University of Dayton. Sarah was visiting her friend, Leah, and Eddie was visiting his friend, Brad. They saw each other at Timothy’s Bar and Sarah was certainly flirting with him. However, again, Eddie had a girlfriend, unbeknownst to Sarah. Two years later, they ran into each other at a UofL football game. Eddie was finally single and wanted to ask Sarah for her number, but his phone was dead. So, they said hello and went their separate ways. That winter, Brad called Eddie and asked him if he wanted to go to the Christmas Bambi Walk. Eddie really didn’t want to go out that night, but Brad finally convinced him. Eddie spotted Sarah at Boombozz Pizza and told Brad, “I’m going to get Sarah Lutes’ number tonight.” The crew barhopped down Bardstown Road and eventually made it to Akiko’s for some karaoke. Eddie was standing at the bar and turned around and saw Sarah directly behind him. At last, the stars aligned! He got her number, and the rest is history!

THE PROPOSAL

10.23.19

The evening before they were set to leave for a weeklong vacation with friends, Eddie asked Sarah if she wanted to take the dogs to walk their favorite trail at Cherokee Park. They made it to "their spot" along the trail where the dogs began to play fetch and swim. Standing behind her, Eddie wrapped Sarah up in a big bear hug and told her how much he loved her. When she was distracted, he got down on one knee. Clueless, Sarah continued throwing the ball with JR and watching the dogs have their fun. After several failed attempts to get her attention, Eddie finally got her to turn around by calling Minnie up to him. Sarah could not believe her eyes. She immediately started crying, and kept asking him, "Are you serious?!" He was indeed very serious and SHE SAID YES!
