Guests are welcome to wear Indian or western-style festive clothing. In the Indian context, this means KHURTAS for men and SARIS/SALWAR KAMEEZ for women. Men who prefer western-style clothing may wear any combination of slacks, dress shirts, waistcoats and dinner jackets While women may wear dresses, blouses, skirts and pants. Bear in mind that the wedding will be held outdoors in June - we expect it to be warm and humid!
We expect to be relocating overseas at the beginning of our marriage and have chosen not to have a typical registry. For us, the greatest gift we could receive is your presence at our wedding. If you would like to leave us a gift, we will be accepting funds for a honeymoon in Namibia/Botswana.
The Hindu wedding will take approximately 1.5 hours with several events and activities. After their entrance, the bride and groom will sit with their families in the mandap, a four-poster altar for the ceremony. It is customary for guests to mingle and cheer for the bride/groom in various points of the ceremony.
The Lutheran ceremony closely resembles a traditional christian wedding ceremony and will take approximately 45 minutes. In order for guests to respectfully observe the ceremony, a quiet environment is needed.
