Abby's Pont of View: Our story starts when Evan and his family started attending Faith Baptist Church when we were in the 5th grade. For those who don’t know, we dated for a brief 4 months our junior year of high school. Let’s just say that it was your typical high school relationship and ended up not working out. Fast forward 8 years which during that time we barely talked, avoided each other mostly. I moved back to Washington after graduating grad school and barely a week after I received a text from Evan. Let's just say I was a little caught off guard and cautious. After meeting up a few times, it didn't go anywhere. Fast forward a year and a half and my mom decided to take charge (you will ask her more about that). But whatever she did, turned out to be perfect timing. Evan took another chance on me and reached out. This time we both were cautious at the beginning. If there is anyone I have to thank it is my mom. Apparently she saw something I didn't and I'm so glad she did. Our timing may not have been great in high school, but thankfully it was perfect timing this time around.
Evan’s point of view: I realized I wanted to marry Abby around December 2020 (a little over a year of us dating). I texted Abby's best friend Ashley on February 11th, 2021 to ask her if she would help me pick out a ring. It took two weeks over various days to ask Abby's dad "how would you feel about me asking Abby to marry me?" due to Abby interrupting each time. On March 12th, I picked out the engagement ring. I decided on proposing at Flaming Geyser State Park as somewhere to disguise the proposal plan as an idea of Ashley's. Abby thought she was taking pictures of Ashley and her husband Dustin after a double date dinner. After getting to the park, Abby took pictures of Ashley and Dustin while I scoped out better spots for "pictures". I didn't find any better spots so I let Abby pick her favorite place in the park. After she was done taking pictures of Ashley and Dustin, I suggested Ashley take a few pictures of me and Abby. While Ashley was taking photos, Dustin pulled out his phone and was recording. After taking a few photos, I got down on one knee and asked Abby to marry me. After I asked the questions, Abby seemed to be in shock and paused for what I felt was a very long time. But eventually she said YES!!
