It was senior year of high school when Katie and Ryan shared a table in Mr. Johnson's government class. After knowing each other for just a short while, they became friends, routinely eating lunch together with their mutual friend group. This friendship turned into a little bit more when Ryan decided that he wanted to ask Katie to be his girlfriend. He waited for months for the perfect opportunity. Finally, that opportunity arose. Ryan, being in high school band, and Katie, being in choir, had the privilege of traveling together to Disneyland to perform as the combined "Woodcreek High School Performing Arts". The long drive on the tour bus gave the two an excuse to sit next to each other and get to know the other better. They told stories, laughed, and shared the same interests as the tour bus bustled with routy choir kids. As the sun began to set, and the two grew more exhausted from their travels. Katie rested her head on Ryan's shoulder and peacefully fell asleep. It was at this moment that Ryan knew that he loved her. When the day finally came, Katie and Ryan spent all day together in Disneyland screaming on Space Mountain, singing on Pirates of the Caribean, and savoring the $4 churros. Before they knew it, the sun was gone and Christmas lights on the castle lit up Main Street. As the two were about to pass through the castle, Ryan stopped to "tie his shoe" but in reality, he was pulling out a light-up rose from his backpack. He grabbed Katie by the hand and stumbling over his words asked her, "will you be my girlfriend?" and the rest, as they say, is history.
Marriage was always something that they wanted but being fresh out of college, still living at home, it wasn't the right time. The two celebrated 6 anniversaries together until they decided to take the next step in their relationship and move in together. They were happy in their new home with their fur baby but something was missing. Now that they had a place to call home, all that was left was a ring to make it official. Ryan planned the perfect proposal for months just as he had planned to ask Katie to be his girlfriend. Again, the perfect opportunity arose. The couple was going to visit family in Florida and they could not pass on an opportunity to go to Disneyworld together. Ryan packed the ring in secret, only Katie's Mom, Dad, and Sister knowing what was coming. The couple ooed and awed at the towering Cinderella Castle and spent the day together just as they had seven years earlier at Disneyland. Ryan proposed that they go and meet Katie's favorite princess, Ariel in her special meeting spot, "Ariel's Grotto". The couple, along with Katie's family waited in the short line and Ryan thought about the fact that these would be their last moments as "boyfriend and girlfriend". It was their turn to take photos with the princess. They sat on either side of Ariel on her seashell throne. As the photographer was snapping pictures, Ryan turned to Ariel and said, "so, I know that you collect shiny things. Well, this is MY princess, and I wanted to give her the shiniest thing..." He pulled the Little Mermaid themed ring box out of his pocket and opened it to show Ariel. Her face lit up and with glee she replied, "oh yes! I think she will LOVE it!" Katie held back tears of happiness as Ryan approached her with a smile on his face and got down on one knee. He asked, "will you be part of my world forever?" Leaping up from the seashell seat, Katie threw her arms around him and replied "about time! Yes!". And they lived Happily Ever After...
