She said YESS!!!

Welcome to our wedding website! We are so grateful to have you be apart of our big day, and can't wait to see you all in a few short months! We've created our website to help you navigate the important details and information necessary to prepare for our wedding, as well as remembering to RSVP! Shelby and I met the very first time in high school, and by met, we knew of each other. She apparently referred to me as "Flat Bill Matt," and I always thought she was the shy underclassman who kept to herself. Little did we know over ten years later we would "Like" each others photo's on Instagram, bump in to each other at church (see story below), grab coffee at Starbucks on Christmas Eve and a few short weeks later I would make my first trip to Matthews, NC to see whether what we were both feeling was real! It turns out, it was absolutely real and here we are today. Planning for the best day of our lives and continuing to grow in our relationships with God as well as each other each and every day.

Back to the story at church.....I remember it like it was yesterday. I was working on our safety team, sitting in my normal spot in the sanctuary. It was our first Christmas service of the season, Christmas Eve Eve service. I am looking around and notice this beautiful girl on the opposite side of the sanctuary, I may or may not have knew it was Shelby ;). Completely out of character for me I decide to relocate and a great friend of mine, Mindy and her Husband Travis happened to be sitting only a few rows behind Shelby, so I went and sat with her. A few minutes in to service, Mindy sent me a message that it was her goal this year to find me a lady, ha. Fast forward to the end of service and I remember Shelby turning around and we locked eyes, smiled and I mumbled "hi" in a panic before turning away. I am not sure whether Mindy noticed that or not, but she saw Shelby with her Grandparents and b-lined straight to her. It turns out, Mindy was Shelby's Sunday School teacher at Salem back in the day, however; as happy as Mindy was to see Shelby, she had another goal in mind. A few moments later, Mindy walks up behind me, places her hand on my shoulder and says, "Well, sorry that won't work, she lives in Charlotte!" Keep in mind at this point I am with my family ten feet away from where Shelby and her family are, talk about awkward. Once everyone started to clear out, I was standing in the lobby, finishing up helping with Safety Team and I hear, "Hey Matt!" I turn around and there's Shelby, gorgeous by the way, but threw me in to a sheer panic. I know I had to turn red, I could hear my voice shuttering, and instantly started to sweat. We talked small talk for a few moments, before my Niece and Nephew came up and saved the day ;). We parted and wished each other a Merry Christmas, but something wasn't setting right. Little did Mindy know, with that text and awkward conversation, she set the groundwork for Shelby and I. Thanks Mindy, We Love You :)
