Option 2: Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) Rome is 2.5 to 3 hours from Villa Capanne by car. Option 3: Perugia Airport (PEG) Perugia is 40 minutes from Villa Capanne by car. Travel Note
While trains are possible, we highly recommend renting a car for the most flexibility and ease, especially for exploring the Italian countryside. Villa Capanne is tucked away in a rural area, and public transport is limited. If you’re renting a car, keep in mind: Rental Car: In Italy, most rental cars have manual (stick-shift) transmissions. If you're more comfortable driving an automatic, be sure to specifically request an automatic vehicle when booking. Toll Roads: Major highways in Italy (like the A1 from Rome or Florence) are toll roads. You’ll collect a ticket when you enter and pay when you exit—either by cash or card. Keep some euros on hand just in case a toll booth doesn’t accept cards. ZTL Zones: In many Italian cities, including Florence and Perugia, there are ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) areas—restricted driving zones for residents only. Avoid entering these zones to prevent fines. If you're just driving through, you’ll be fine by sticking to major roads Tip: When renting, ask your car company if your vehicle includes Telepass for automatic toll payment.
Travel Note
There will be plenty of places to park near the entrance of the Villa.
