How We Met

Charlotte - September 18, 2017

It was love at first at first swipe. Not really, but it was close! Their first date was at Frank’s favorite brewery in Charlotte - Sugar Creek Brewing. Suzanne showed up five minutes late (surprise, surprise) and was greeted by a handsome southern gentleman in cowboy boots and a polo. The first date went so well that for the second date Frank invited Suzanne to a Panthers game (a date which lasted 12 hours!). It was a day filled with meeting Frank’s close friends (with Molly’s fabulous mimosas) and being spoiled with box seats (Frank set the bar high - just wait ‘til Paris). Over the next few months Suzanne and Frank spent all the time they could with each other where they continued to meet each other’s friends and eventually families. They went on romantic boat rides on the lake and competed at Top Golf (where Suzanne first learned that Frank’s first name is actually Donald). It didn’t take long for them to realize that their relationship was meant to be and they couldn’t be without each other. Frank asked Suzanne to move in with him but she had too much stuff to fit in his house. So what did they do? They bought a home together! Naturally, when Suzanne informed her 98-year-old grandmother of this fact, Kaysie asked when they were getting married...little did Suzanne know, Frank already had that planned.

The Proposal

Paris ~ September 27, 2018

Ryder Cup 2018 - in Paris! Once Suzanne learned this (after first learning what the Ryder Cup was), she knew they had to go. After a couple months of coaxing (and some bourbon on Frank’s part), they found Sunday tickets. And who better to join than Frank’s sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Mike?! With the flights and Airbnb booked, they ventured to the city of love. Frank and Nancy concocted a plan for the first day - a visit to the top of the Arc de Triomphe followed by high tea at The Ritz. (A plan made to make sure Suzanne was in a fashion forward outfit - for pictures, of course). They climbed up the 284 steps of the Arc de Triomphe on a beautiful Fall day where they were rewarded with breathtaking views of the city. While staring out at Montmartre together, Suzanne remarked how this was a perfect way to start their trip. Frank promptly responded with “let’s say we make it even better” as he got down on one knee and asked Suzanne to be his wife. After a few seconds of surprise (and staring at the gorgeous ring), Suzanne ecstatically answered “Of course!”.
