Black Tie Optional definition: Males typically wear a tuxedo with a black bow tie, white dress shirt, black dress shoes, and sometimes an evening waistcoat or cummerbund. The tuxedo can be black, midnight blue, or white, and have satin or grosgrain lapels. Females typically wear a floor-length gown or other fashionable evening attire in an evening-appropriate fabric, such as velvet, silk, satin, or lace. Despite the name, a black-tie dress doesn't necessarily have to be black. Accessories may include fine jewelry, shawls, and clutches.
