We're getting married!

Suzannah and Alex were always meant to be. They grew up in the same hometown, knew the same people, and had always known of each other. So it was truly fate when they reconnected as adults at a wedding. Prior to dating Alex, Suzannah had her life group at church pray over her relationships, specifically a romantic one. She was ready to find the One. So fate stepped in at Ariana’s wedding in Michigan where, Ariana, a close friend of Suzannah’s, had matter-of-factly told Alex to ask Suzannah out on a date. Nervous but confident, Alex did just so. At first glance, Suzannah was attracted to his beautiful hazel eyes and his kindness. Alex loved her passion for life, thoughtfulness, and gorgeous smile. They shared champagne that night, which for all who know Suzannah, is a big deal because she does not share champagne with just anyone. Things seemed so perfect, but there were some obvious challenges along the way. At the time, Suzannah was living in Texas and had flown to Michigan to attend Ariana’s wedding. There, Alex had asked Suzannah when she was going to fly back, and she lied, saying she was not sure (which was, in all honesty, a way to test the waters). It turned out that Alex made such an impression on Suzannah that she canceled her flight home and spent an extra week in Michigan - with Alex! When she finally made her way back to Texas, she immediately told her mom about him. At that point, Suzannah already knew he was someone special. What Alex did not know was that Suzannah had previously written in a journal all the qualities she wanted in a future husband, and he had met every single one! Shortly after, Suzannah packed her suitcase and drove back to Michigan for a visit. Suzannah and Alex have been together ever since. They started officially dating on 10/5/20 when Alex asked Suzannah to be his girlfriend during a stop in Nashville on the way to Naples, FL from Michigan. He continued to split his time between the two states, and their long-distance relationship continued until August 2022. During that time, they cheered each other on as both graduated from college and started their professional careers. It was also then that Suzannah, after graduating from Baylor, moved to Baltimore for a postdoctoral fellowship position. They both became frequent flyers, traveling back and forth to visit each other. Despite the distance, Alex knew he had to make it official. He proposed on 8/18/22 at his happy place, his family’s 40-acre hunting property nicknamed “the goose farm.” A simple, peaceful slice of heaven where the world slowed down, Suzannah had joined Alex many times there to deer hunt and also quickly fell in love with the property. It was there that their romance bloomed. As for the proposal, after enlisting the help of his father, stepmother, and stepsister with the set up, a very stressed out Alex finally got down on one knee with the most sweetest proposal ever. They bought their first home together after Suzannah moved back to Michigan in summer 2023. Finally, they could reside in not only the same state but also in the same home.
