Andy and Suzanna met through a mutual friend. While hanging out with this friend, Suzanna joined him on a quick visit to Andy’s house to look at cars (surprise surprise). Mustangs to be exact. While Suzanna was listening to the guys talk about cars, a question comes up about what kind of car everyone drives. When it was Suzanna's turn she said "a Mustang." Andy responded "Oh really, do you have a picture of the car?" Suzanna said yes and proceeded to show Andy a picture of her orange mustang. When Andy saw the picture of the car he said "OMG really!? That’s you! I see that car all the time." From that point on, Andy and Suzanna started talking more regularly, began to spend time with one another, got to know each other, and the rest is history.

The proposal happened during a Brodzinski family tradition. The tradition is to put up and decorate a real Christmas tree while enjoying homemade pizza for dinner. Earlier in the day, the tree was decorated by Andy’s mom and cousin, Brittany (who helped Andy make all this happen). In the evening, Suzanna came over for dinner and to watch a Christmas movie. Suzanna had no idea that something was going to be a little different this year. After eating delicious homemade pizza, Andy’s mom says "let’s take some pictures by the tree." Mr. and Mrs. Brody were the first to go, then it was Suzanna and Andy’s turn. Suzanna noticed that Andy was a little hesitant, but didn’t think anything of it and just said to Andy "come on, let’s go take a picture." After a couple of photos, Andy turned to the beautifully decorated Christmas tree and took off a special ornament that had been strategically placed by Mrs. Brody and Brittany earlier in the day. Andy then took Suzanna’s hand and got down on one knee saying "I have something for you." He showed Suzanna the ornament which had the engagement ring tied to it. Then Andy said “Will You Marry Me?” Suzanna, completely surprised and enthusiastically says "Yes!"
