Hotel
We recommend staying in Hollywood, Culver City, or West Hollywood in order to be centrally located, or Santa Monica if you'd like to be closer to the beach. The Garland is located in North Hollywood, which is a short drive from the Hollywood Hills into the San Fernando Valley, and is a great option itself. If you would like a more specific hotel recommendation, please feel free to ask.
Train
The best way to get around LA is by car, but there are train and bus options as well, especially in central areas of the city. For an affordable public transit option from LAX, try the FlyAway bus, which goes to either Van Nuys or Union Station (in Downtown LA). The red line/metro B line connects Downtown and Hollywood to Universal Studios, which is about a 15 minute walk from the Garland. A good option if you'd like to stay centrally in the city but want to take public transport to the wedding venue!
Travel Note
-The Griffith Observatory: Go for the Tesla coil, a show in the Planetarium, or the exquisite views! -The Museum of Jurassic Technology: A small, esoteric museum in Culver City. Go for the kooky exhibits, stay for Georgian black tea in their bird-filled courtyard. Make sure to book in advance. -Mulholland Drive: We highly recommend pairing this scenic drive with the Twin Peaks soundtrack (especially atmospheric on a misty night).
Travel Note
-Universal Studios is right by The Garland! Fun for kids and adults alike :) -A little further out, Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm are super fun. -The Santa Monica Pier is an LA icon, and the beach is great as well!
Travel Note
-Try Dockweiler, Will Rogers, or Santa Monica State Beach. -Malibu Creek Rock Pools are great for swimming on a hot day. -Take your pick from a ton of different hikes at Griffith Park, or take a walk around Echo Park Lake.
