It was only through God's works that Sy and Susan met. It was Susan's final quarter at Cal Poly, Pomona and only had three more classes to take before she graduated in Fall 2015 with a degree in Plant Science. Meanwhile, Sy was pursuing his master's degree in Biology at Cal Poly, Pomona and was preparing himself to take an internship position in the biology department. He was so confident that he could get the job that he arranged all of his classes to accommodate the job. Sy thought the interview went well and was confident that he got the job. Sadly, he didn’t and was devastated. He went all-in for this opportunity, rearranging his class schedule and doing everything in his power to get this job. But now he was left with a tattered class schedule to be put back together. He picked up what courses remained. The courses that students didn't want. One of the courses just happened to be the same class that Susan was in. At first, Susan and Sy didn't get along, in fact Susan was mean to Sy because he didn’t follow the rules. A couple of weeks later, Sy was wandering around campus and saw the door to the classroom was open and decided to peek in. Popping his head in, he saw Susan working on a project. Even though Sy was not exactly fond of Susan, he decided to walk in, to take shelter from the outside heat. He continued to watch Susan working while munching on some Sour Punch Straws candy. Sy offered Susan a piece and she took exactly ONE. From that single action a truce was made and they became friends. A few months later Sy asked Susan to be his girlfriend and she said "Yes" For 5 years they have dated. Visited each other every weekend. Driving from Northern San Diego to Diamond Bar. Going to church every Sunday. Support each other through the good and hard times. Susan bugging Sy to get married. Sy finally asked just in time before Susan changed her mind. On January 1, 2020 it finally happened Sy asked for Susan’s hand in marriage.
