Let’s seeeee it all began May of 2017. Rik came home to visit his baby sister’s graduation. He invited friends and family for this celebration/party. I was thinking I was going on a “sushi date” dressed to impress, somehow ended in Rik’s living room as an unexpected guest. Immediately we locked eyes and shared a brief hug, as we all know Rik is a hugger. After that night Rik made a slick move on a social media sight, mentioning to Me, I should’ve brought my cute friends to his party. Welllll had I known I was going, I probably would’ve. Anywho fast forward a few weeks down the road, me being super single and Rik super faraway messages me through social media about that guy I was at his party with to show me a video of his traveling from the year before... Well little did Rik know I was no longer speaking to said person and that’s when it all started, the DM’s and liking photos. Literally within a few days of brief flirting we exchanged numbers and that first night we talked literally for a few hours.. And then the next day same thing and everyday after, everything just happened over the phone, never ever feeling a feeling of touch, but more of a soul connection. I knew he was my person and I would do whatever it takes to take care of his heart. Rik told me he would be my best friend and always be there for me and that’s all I needed to hear..... August came around and I had a lunch date with his Sis Shelby and Mum. They got to meet me before Rik had ever kissed me. It was super amazing lunch I spilled all the details of how we just connected and literally how I knew I loved Rik so much! So many other things and details about our love story, that honestly would only make sense if you believed in the power of magic. (Or that’s how it felt at times) Finally it was time, the end of August and end of our long awaited kiss/hug/ and to say I love you in person after weeks of just phone calls and text.. 9/1/2017 we shared our first Kiss in the Bruxelles airport.

So second time going to see my Boo, Rik had already planned this whole trip to Paris and with an amazing photographer. I had decided to ask him to “be my forever” at his favorite band’s concert on 11/01/17. Well Manchester Orchestra (Great Band, you should download them) respectfully declined my idea and I had to come up with plan “B”. I had already purchased two “possible” engagement rings for Rik and the last thing was to plan this proposal. I met with Shelby and Sean his Bff for wine and they agreed to help with this one. Sean had the ring box custom made from Rik’s favorite Local artist Jason Eatherly (amazing guy). And my plan was to have his friends and family send a minute or less video sharing what they love or missed or just a hello to Rik. After keeping this a secret for a few weeks I got the last video the day before I flew out and complied it all on the 11 hour flight to see him. Night of proposal Rik had gotten us this fancy hotel room for after Manchester Orchestra and I figured what better way than to show him this video after his favorite band. So I sent him off to get us some drinks while I set up the video to play on the TV. Lots of tears and hugs were shared and I got a “Yes” from my lover.
