Leigh and Susan met the old fashioned way, online, of course. Nu_2_Brooklyn (Leigh) was not looking for anything serious while Suz_in (Susan) had been online dating and was keeping hope alive that the dating pool would deliver someone special. Leigh's dating profile presented him as an attractive business man who recently moved to Brooklyn. Susan swiped through his photos - and as luck would have it, made it to the very last photo, the one that made her swipe right. There he was, dressed in full Magnum PI gear - the way too short OP shorts, the red Hawaiian shirt, the Detroit Tigers hat and yes, had even tried to grow the Thomas Magnum moustache. What more could a girl ask for? So, she sent a message immediately. And....he wrote back. There was instant chemistry by way of sense of humor and quick wit. Their first date lead to a second date two days later and pretty soon they were inseparable.
Leigh had everything planned. He had booked a trip to Europe for the first week of April, 2020. He had arranged a beautiful evening in Tuscany, Italy overlooking the hills and vineyards, a picturesque place to pop the question. But as we all know, COVID had other plans. With the trip cancelled, he came up with an amazing plan B. Every summer in July Susan and Leigh go to a Lobster Bake on the beach in Long Island. It's a beautiful night with great food and friends and it just so happened to be Susan's birthday. Leigh was unusually anxious about getting to the party on time, kept checking his phone and his watch. After getting a cocktail, he asked Susan to walk on the beach and as they got closer to the ocean a plane flew across the sky with a message attached to his tail, it read, "?EM YRRAM UOY LLIW, NASUS". Susan pointed up to the sky, and giggled, "THAT'S FOR ME! IT'S BACKWARDS" Leigh tried to deny it, wanting it to be a perfect moment and wanting the plane to turn around and fly the correct direction. But to her, it was a perfectly imperfect moment and of course the answer was an emphatic "YES".
