The message popped up in his inbox--"Your Daily Matches." He took a look and was immediately intrigued. She was clearly an intelligent beauty. So he sent her a note to gauge interest. She was equally intrigued and replied quickly. They traded numbers and started texting. And he--all too typically--lost track of the exchange. She was ignored--for almost two weeks. Truly, a romance that almost never was. She reached out gently to inquire what had happened. Startled, and apologetic for his boneheadedness, he jumped at the chance to reconnect and proposed a day hike on Sugarloaf Mountain; she accepted. And on a beautiful early- October Saturday, as he walked across that mountainside parking lot and saw her flashing those gorgeous pearly whites, he thought to himself, how did I get so lucky? She thought, Wow, he's tall (and devilishly handsome)! They walked and talked. And watched the sun set from the top of the mountain. No kiss on the first date, but interest became "like," "like" became romance, romance became love. And now love has taken hold for life.
