How It All Started

March 10, 2015

Susan was dining at Sea Island with her mother, grandmother and college roommate and Max was their waiter in the restaurant. He overheard them talking about Ole Miss and said he went to college there as well. Susan said "Hotty Toddy!" and Max just smiled. Anyone who went to Ole Miss knows that you HAVE to say "Hotty Toddy" back as it is a school tradition. Susan thought he must have been lying to get a good tip. Later on that evening when Max wasn't working, Susan and Max ran into each other again. Max told Susan that she should come back again and see him before her and her family went back home. Susan and her family went back the very next night. Three months later Susan moved to St. Simons Island for a summer job at Sea Island. Susan did her "research" and facebook stalked Max- yes, she will admit to it now! She knew everything about Max: his life story, that he is a Christian, and even that the two little girls in his profile picture were his nieces not his kids! She messaged him via Facebook and they went on their first date a week later. On their first date, Max took Susan to his favorite beach called 5th Street. Susan said "I love life stories" because she didn't want him to find out she already knew everything about him! Max told Susan everything. They sat at the beach and talked for hours... and have been together ever since!

The Proposal

March 22, 2019

Max knows that Susan is very hard to surprise so he had to be really careful when he decided to propose. Susan is the planner in their relationship, so Max ended up tricking her into planning part of her proposal without her ever knowing! Max had their close friends ask them to dinner and for Susan to pick the restaurant, she picked The Studio Restaurant as Max knew she would because it is somewhere everyone had been wanting to dine for a while. Max had Susan’s manager give her a Friday night off, so Susan picked that Friday night to go to dinner just like Max had planned. The day of the engagement was filled with lots of activity from making her appointment at the wrong nail salon but luckily still being able to get her nails done, hot yoga & driving around town with the windows down to air dry Susan’s hair in time so she could style it. After Susan already planned hers & Max’s outfits, her friend sent a picture of what she was wearing and Susan decided to put on her favorite black dress instead! After arriving at the restaurant and still waiting for their friends to arrive, Susan & Max walked out to their favorite point that overlooks the ocean in Laguna Beach. Max looked at Susan, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes! After the proposal, a hidden photographer came out and they had an engagement photoshoot. Then Susan and Max went to dinner where Max had the Chef create a personal tasting menu for the two of them filled with all of their favorite foods. The next day Max said “Pack a weekend bag! We are going away!”. Susan thought she had to work the rest of the weekend, but Max had her manager create a false schedule so she didn’t get suspicious. They spent their engagement weekend celebrating at The Montage in Beverly Hills.

The Elopment

September 12, 2020

After having to make the hardest decision to postpone their wedding TWICE, Susan and Max decided to finally tie the knot on 9/12/2020! It was small, intimate, and beautiful. Simplicity at its best. The Mr. and Mrs. married at a place that is dearest to them, the Montage Laguna Beach. This is also where they got engaged! It was a beautiful Saturday, surrounded by loved ones in person and virtually on Zoom by immediate family members. Lindsay, one of the couples best friend, played the violin including Love Theme from St. Elmo's Fire. This was one of Susan's grandmother's favorite songs and was played in honor of her. A pandemic couldn't stop this love story. They are so happy for this new chapter in their lives and are excited to see what God has in store for them!
