The Wedding Website of Susan Goodell and Clayton Gouard
We're excited to welcome you to the heart of Colonial Williamsburg for our wedding. Susan's parents live in Williamsburg and, of course, Susan lived there for several years when she attended the College of William & Mary. It's a nice destination for a weekend away, and (we hope) conveniently located for many of our guests. For those coming from Baltimore, Williamsburg is approximately a 3.5 hour drive down 95 south and east on route 64 (though we suggest you allow time for the unpredictable and often frustrating traffic around Northern VA and Fredericksburg.) We have made arrangements for room blocks/discounts at two convenient hotels (details below) but there is no shortage of affordable lodging options in town, so please also feel free to make your own arrangements. We hope that you'll have fun in and around Williamsburg while you're in town (see the Things to Do page for suggestions.) For official travel information on Williamsburg, visit www.visitwilliamsburg.com.

Hotel

Williamsburg Lodge, Autograph Collection

310 South England Street, Williamsburg, VA 23185
 (757) 220-7976

The Williamsburg Lodge is a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel conveniently located next door to our wedding venue. It's walking distance to the wedding and to Colonial Williamsburg, and offers newly renovated rooms and on-site amenities like dining and access to the spa and golf. Guests also receive a discount on Colonial Williamsburg Admission. We have reserved a guaranteed block of rooms at the Lodge for Friday and Saturday nights at a rate of $239 per night. These "run of house" rooms will feature one queen or one king bed - though the Lodge does offer a variety of room types, so if you want to upgrade or request a specific room type, you may contact CW Reservations at 800-261-9530 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. eastern time Monday through Friday. The rooms at this rate are first come, first serve so we encourage you to book early using the "View" link below. (We do have the ability to add rooms to our limited block as long as they are available, so the sooner we have a sense of demand, the better we’ll be able to accommodate our guests.)

Hotel

Griffin Hotel

136 Francis Street East, Williamsburg, VA 23185
 (757) 565-8440

Like the Williamsburg Lodge, the Griffin Hotel (a Colonial Williamsburg property) is conveniently located next door and within walking distance to the wedding venue. While it doesn't have the on-site amenities of the Lodge, it's an easy walk to restaurants, golf, spa, etc. We have reserved a limited number of rooms at the Griffin Hotel at a discounted rate of $209 per night for our guests - we cannot secure more rooms at this rate, so if you're interested in this option, we recommend you book early. To book at the Griffin, use the "View" link below.

Flight

Options for Flying to Williamsburg

If you intend to fly to Williamsburg for the wedding, you have the choice of several area airports. Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is the closest airport (17 miles, about a 20 to 25 minute drive) to Colonial Williamsburg. It is a domestic airport only and is served by American Airlines and new low-cost airline Avelo. It’s small and easily navigated and if you can find a convenient, affordable flight there, it’s likely your best option. An Uber or taxi to/from Williamsburg from PHF will likely run $30 to $55. Car rental is available, though may be more limited than at other, larger airports. Both Richmond International Airport (RIS) and Norfolk International Airport (ORF) are about 45 miles (and approximately a 50 to 60 minute drive) to Colonial Williamsburg. Both are served by most major airlines. Traffic can be a tad more difficult coming from Norfolk in warmer months due to beach traffic to Virginia Beach. But it is home to Naval Station Norfolk (with tours!) if you are considering tacking on tourist activity to your visit. Richmond airport is just 7 miles from downtown Richmond. A taxi or Uber from either RIS or ORF can be costly (from $40 to over $100) depending on the service, so check fares and consider renting a car. We’re also happy to try to arrange pick ups by family members or friends if possible, so let us know if you have any concerns about ground transportation around your flights.

Train

Amtrak to Williamsburg

For our east coast friends (or those who want to visit other east coast cities on your trip) Amtrak does have trains to Williamsburg. The train station is very conveniently located near the heart of Colonial Williamsburg - an easy Uber, taxi or even a reasonable walk to some hotels. There are two trains daily between Baltimore and Williamsburg with a travel time between 4.5 and 5 hours. Check Amtrak for information.

Travel Note

Getting Around Williamsburg

While it's convenient to have a car (either your own or a rental) to explore the area, it's not essential. There are lodging options, dining and entertainment within walking distance of the wedding venue. Uber and Lyft do operate in Williamsburg, and there are several cab companies serving the area as well (just don't expect the same prevalence you might expect in a major city.)
