Jacob and I can’t really pinpoint the exact moment we met—there was no dramatic hallway scene or instant spark. But sometime in 2017, we found ourselves in the same friend group, and we just clicked. It felt easy, natural—like we'd always known each other. Not long after, I headed off to college. We kept in touch, though distance made it harder to stay close. That changed in 2020 when COVID brought everyone back home. It felt like no time had passed. We picked up right where we left off—beach trips, house parties, late-night drives, and inside jokes that seemed to multiply overnight. Somewhere in all of that, we became inseparable. Jacob ended up transferring to UNF first, and a little while later, I did too. It wasn’t planned—we just happened to land in the same place again. Not long after that summer, he surprised me by taking a chance and sharing how he felt. I didn’t see it coming, but it didn’t take long for the idea of “us” to start feeling completely right. Now, five & a half years later, we’re still laughing, still going on adventures, and still best friends. Turns out, he really did know what he was doing.
