We love the trailhead just east of Main St called Buena Vista Whitewater Park. You can access the river, watch surfers and fly fishers, and cross the bridge onto the trail system with a couple moderate (2 to 3 mile) loops. Up top, there are excellent views of the valley and Collegiate Peaks. If you’re looking for something more challenging, we recommend consulting AllTrails as there are too many nearby hikes to list here.
Tube it, swim it (cold), kayak it, surf it (if you’re crazy). Even just stroll it on the path behind the Surf Hotel.
We recommend checking out The Blend, a great spot for bagel sandwiches, smoothies, acai bowls, oatmeal and pastries. The Roastery will take care of all your bean water needs.
Who doesn’t love an old town? Jump into the shops and enjoy the Farmer’s Market on Saturday starting at 9am.
If you know Flip, you know burritos are a big part of his identity. If you’re not into a good ‘rito, try one of their excellent sandwiches or bowls!
Located just a 9-iron from the Surf Hotel, this brewery has a great selection of local brews and delicious food. Anna’s fav is the Surfea Mexican Lager and Flip the River Runner’s Pale Ale!
Bop on down to Salida or check out Saint Elmo ghost town, one of Colorado’s best preserved. Both are about a half hour drive.
