Why the sudden change?

Answer

We had originally planned to get legally married on our anniversary ahead of time, like many couples do, so we could focus on planning our big celebration throughout the year. However, after much back-and-forth with our previous venue coordinator and a lack of communication from them — which made the planning process increasingly stressful — we realized something important: why pour so much time, energy, and money into a single day we may only remember in fleeting moments, when we could use that same love and intention to begin building the life God has planned for us instead? With this decision, a weight has been lifted from our shoulders (and likely a little strain from our friends’ and families’ pockets, too!). It’s given us the peace and clarity to return to what truly matters — each other, and the sacred joy of entering into a covenant before God as husband and wife. Though our hearts ache that our dear friends and family can’t be with us in person, we will be recording and streaming the ceremony live so our loved ones can still join us in spirit and witness this blessing from wherever they are.
