On January 19, 2013, we were both flying solo at Corner Tavern on Edgewood and struck up a friendly conversation. Soon after, Beth excused herself to sing karaoke. The emcee announced Super Beverly to the stage and she brought down the house with her rendition of "Give It To Me Baby" by Rick James. Jonathon was starstruck. He realized they had previously exchanged words on OKCupid and recalled his disappointment when she deleted her account, never to be seen or heard from again....until this lucky night. What were the chances we would end up at the same bar, on the same night, right before Super Bev took to the stage? Indeed, fate was calling!
JG loves surprise outings, so it wasn't out of the ordinary when he planned a trip and gave Beth very little details in December 2018. With our dog Roux in tow, we headed up to Tennessee for the weekend. Our first stop was the Fiery Gizzard Trail. It was a slippery, strenuous, and precarious hike. We stopped to take one last photo before heading back to the car, when Beth, distracted by Roux, turned around to find Jonathon down on one knee, proposing with her Great Grandmother's ring! We celebrated into the evening, as JG had more surprises in store. We headed to see the John Butler Trio perform at the Caverns, an intimate music venue inside a cave. We capped off the night with a bottle of bubbly. It was a weekend for the books! On New Years Day 2019, Jonathon surprised Beth yet again with a beautiful custom made ring. It tells the story of our journey as a couple, and is engraved with "I just want to love you" - lyrics of the song from that fateful night we met. Our love came full circle!
