Our Love Story

We met where all great love begins...

A bar! Our mutual friend, Amber, asked me to come with her to meet a few friends in the Short North. As soon as I walked in, Jarret and I were both immediately drawn to one another. After a great night of bar hopping, taking one too many lemon drops and dropping it low on the dance floor, we didn't pursue anything further, as Jarret was still living in Dallas at the time and only in town to visit family. A few days later, Jarret connected with me on Instagram and we followed each other's lives from afar. In June, Amber thought Jarret and I would be a great match and encouraged me to message him (thanks, Amber!). After taking her advice, he and I chatted off-and-on over the next few weeks. On July 4th, after an all-day conversation over Instagram, I asked Jarret to send a video of him playing piano. Instead, Jarret accidentally hit video chat and in a panic, decided to play it off as a romantic gesture. He played "Runaway" by Kanye West and I was immediately smitten! I gave Jarret my phone number and we got to know each other better over text, then moved to Facetiming for hours. We instantly knew there was something special between us, so Jarret booked a flight to Columbus to visit. We had the most incredible weekend together, including our "first date" having momo and donuts at North Market, grabbing a drink at Park Street Cantina, then a walk in Goodale Park. We both knew we were in love. Over the next 7 months, we visited each other, both in Dallas and Columbus. When Jarret moved back to Columbus in April 2020 after over 2 months of not seeing each other due to the pandemic, he had driven 17 hours straight through the night to see me. The morning he made it to our new apartment was one of the happiest days of my life! In 2021, we bought our first house together, adopted our oversized dachshund, Reuben, and got engaged! Knowing that it was incredibly difficult to surprise me, Jarret proposed on a Monday evening to throw me off the scent. I came home from the gym, took a shower, and came down in my pajamas to find Jarret wearing a tuxedo in our living room. KC & JoJo's "All My Life" was playing over a photo and video montage of our life together, including those that we sent to each other during our long-distance relationship. I was SHOCKED! It was perfect. Through some mild sobs, I of course said YES! We are so incredibly thankful for everyone's joy and well-wishes on our engagement, and we cannot wait to celebrate our love with you!
