Flight
Flying from US - there are quite a few indirect flight options from major cities in the US. One popular stop over city is Beijing, and you can probably spend a couple days in Beijing (Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Great Wall) for sightseeing before the wedding! Alternatively you can also fly into Shanghai (Pudong International Airport PVG) from US with multiple direct flight options. You can either spend a day or two in Shanghai (and then take high speed rail to Hangzhou) or directly take a bus from the airport to Hangzhou. There are also rental car options at airport. ps: For the US Citizens, there is a Visa Requirement for entry unless you guys have a third country visit on your flight itinerary which would allow visa free entry into China for 72 hours For those based in NYC, we have used this visa processing agency before and it's quite painless. You just have to gather documents and drop it off their office near Grand Central - takes about a week https://www.itseasy.com
Flight
Cesme is about an hour outside Izmir and less than an hour if driving from Izmir airport. You would usually fly from the US or other international cities into Istanbul (IST) and transit to Izmir from there. There are tens of flights from Istanbul to Izmir every day and the flight usually takes less an hour. For US Citizens flying into Turkey, there is a simple visa that can be done online at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ which is basically a 20$ online processing fee for entry.
Travel Note
We would recommend staying 2-3 days in Hangzhou. It's a beautiful city and could be very relaxing biking around the lake or just wandering around. A few activities you could consider: Renting a boat for an hour or so and have the boatman row you around the lake (think about the Gondola in Venice but much bigger lake and open space) Visiting Lingyin temple - one of the oldest buddhist temples in China Biking or walking around the Su and Bai causeways on the lake Hiking one of the hills surrounding the lake - possibly Long Jing (dragon well) with the tea terraces and watch how farmers make tea Here is a link to some sight seeing and other general information about Hangzhou on Longly Planet https://www.lonelyplanet.com/china/zhejiang/hangzhou
