WE GOT MARRIED!

.....but we had to postpone the party 😕

10/10/2020 we had a small ceremony with our parents and a couple close friends. It was more beautiful than we could have imagined, with fall foliage on full display at the farm. We lit up the greenhouse with twinkly lights, ate delicious homemade Cambodian food, and took gorgeous pictures in the orchard. Of course- we GREATLY missed all of you. So we are still having a party to celebrate!

HOW WE MET

Summer Camp Crush • July 2014

Sunny worked for Mike’s father, Frank at CPFD in Stockton, CA. When Frank and Deb ventured back to Maine to start an organic farm, Sunny took the opportunity to visit over the summer. The first time Mike and Sunny met- Frank, Deb and Sunny picked him up with plans of a nice dinner on Peak’s Island. As soon as Mike got in the car he realized his shirt smelled like laundry gone bad (everyone agreed), and he had to buy a new one at a tourist shop before hopping on the ferry. (Later, once they were dating- this became Sunny’s regular ‘sleep shirt’ for sentimental reasons :)) There was an instant attraction, but it took 2 more trips to Maine before Sunny asked Frank to give Mike her number. His response was immediately ‘Why?!’ After visiting again in August 2015, Sunny officially referred to Mike as her ‘Summer Camp Crush’ to her friends. Mike called for the first time August 17, 2015.... and Sunny moved to Maine almost exactly 1 year later.

THE PROPOSAL

Moose Hunting • 10.27.2019

Gabi was away for the weekend with a friend, and it happened to be the 4 year anniversary of our first ‘date.’ We decided to take a drive through moose country, I had never seen one. We drove all day Saturday, saw gorgeous countryside, stopped at a couple overlooks to soak in the view, listened to a few podcasts and never found a moose. We turned in for the night at the Spillover Motel, and woke up before dawn on Sunday hoping to see Moose out and about. Mike suggested we watch the sunrise at Quill Hill overlook and I agreed (although secretly I was nervous we would miss the moose prime time). It was super windy and freezing cold at the top, Mike still insisted we get out and sign the visitor log. While I was trying to sign the book with wet pages and an empty pen, I turned to tell him I was giving up and saw he was down on one knee holding a white box with a bow. He said ‘You complete our family, I love you, will you marry me?’ I kept asking ‘are you serious?’ We got back in the car to avoid the wind while he opened the box to reveal the most sparkly ring I’ve ever seen! At this point I said ‘Oh yes by the way!’ We stayed to admire the sunrise while I sat in awe of having had no clue he had this planned. We never did see a moose....
