Brooke was hosting a luau in celebration of her 24th birthday and Nicole asked if two of her friends could come a few hours early with her. Brooke said fosho, but failed to get dressed, brush her hair etc. before they arrived because she assumed it was another couple. She was wrong. Brooke was vigorously cooking sandwiches for the party when Michael Sundermier walked through the door. Brooke immediately ran to the restroom with Nicole and the conversation went a little something like this: Brooke - "OMG WHO IS THAT BEAUTIFUL MAN?!" Nicole - "Which one?" Brooke - "The one with the sexy face and amazing hair, duh!" The rest was history. The two love birds only knew each other for one month before Michael had to move to Erie, PA for his job at GE. But when you know, you know, and we were head over heels for each other. So, we went full throttle into the long distance thing and totally mastered it! After 6 months of too many nights apart, we made the big decision to move in together in Addison, TX. Many people warned us that this would be risky, but our souls belonged together, and we knew it. We have two little furbabies - Gandalf (9) and Winston (1) - and we are happier than ever. We continue to fall more and more in love every day. We make the perfect team. We are soulmates, adventurers, partners in crime, best friends, two peas in the perfect pod, and badass partners in life who will love each other forever and always, so now it's time to tie the knot!
My super romantic fiancé planned the perfect proposal. We were on a nine-day vacation with the entire Johnston family. We explored, hiked, mountain biked, and whitewater river rafted through Grand Teton National Park. On July 10, we drove our giant white van to Yellowstone. We were pretty tired, but Mike wanted to hike up to Observation Point. He told me we were going to shoot a funny music video during the hike which was why he was wearing the GoPro (yes, I believed him bc that's totally something we would do). At the top, he had planted a little piece of a geode to make me believe that there were geodes in the area. So we began to look around and found something that looked like it could be a geode, he had me crack it open and there was a note inside that said "turn around" and when I turned around the man of my dreams was on one knee with a gorgeous geode box and a breathtakingly beautiful ring. Lots of jumping, dancing and cheering happened after that and two geysers (Bee Hive and Castle) erupted in perfect view. As if that wasn't perfect enough, Mike made the geode box himself, broke open and glued back together the geode that I broke open AND designed my super perfect, amazing, gorgeous ring from scratch. I am one lucky lady!! The proposal and everything accompanying it was beyond anything I could have ever imagined, a true fairytale.
