While we were there, amid the trees and the anticipation of our future together, I was completely wrapped up in the dream of this future day and the journey beyond. At this moment Thomas surprised me by dropping to one knee and asking me to marry him. Thinking we were totally alone in this moment, I was scared to hear twigs breaking in the distance. Horror turned into surprise and delight, as our families, who had been hiding in the nearby tree line, emerged with cheers and champagne, adding an extra layer of magic to the already perfect moment.
