Yes! The 21st of June (Summer Solstice) falls on a Wednesday this year.
City Hall has no onsite parking, but there are a few garages close by. In fact, there is one right across the street under the courtyard in front of city hall - basically onsite! For parking info visit: http://sfcityhallevents.org/directions-parking
San Francisco City Hall is a beautiful and iconic building. It has the tallest dome in the United States. It's also a fully functioning city hall (with security). You will need to arrive with enough time to park, make it through the security check point, and up to the fourth floor for our ceremony. The ceremony starts at 11am on the 4th floor. You should plan for 20 minutes to get through security and make it to the 4th floor. This is just our best estimate.
To reach the 4th Floor gallery, enter the building on Polk (also known as Dr Carlton B Goodlett Place). As soon as you get past security, walk a few steps and you’ll see the elevators on your left-hand side. Enter the elevator and hit 4. On your near side (exit elevator and to the right) you’ll find the South Gallery. Walk the other direction ( to your left, the far side), and you’ll find the North Gallery.
Yes! City hall is served by multiple public transit lines. For information on public transportation, visit: http://sfcityhallevents.org/public-transit
You have two options: 1. There is two hour parking in the neighborhood around the park. You might have to drive around the block a few times to find a spot. 2. If you don't want to brave street parking, you can park in the parking garage at 2100 Webster Street. From the parking garage, it is a 5 minute walk to Lafayette Park. Parking can be a little tough in San Francisco, but we hope that won't deter you. We can recommend a few options: 1. Carpool if you can! 2. Take public transportation (BART, Bus or Ferry) into San Francisco and then a ride shares (uber/lyft) as needed. 3. Drive into San Francisco and park in a garage near City Hall. From there, you can take a ride share, carpool with friends or drive and park at Lafayette Park.
Our wedding reception will be held at the gathering space "Meadow." The Meadow is behind the tennis courts at the corner of Washington and Gough Streets. Check out the link below for a detailed picture of the park. If you enter from Gough Street, you will be treated to a lovely staircase. If you prefer a ramp, enter from Washington or Sacramento Streets. We will do our best to place signs in strategic places to point you in the right direction. Look for the brightly colored sandwich boards and check out the map below: https://newfillmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/LAFAYETTEConceptPlan_12-2010.gif
While we would be delighted to celebrate our special day with you, for the health and safety of our loved ones, please stay home if you have been recently exposed to friends/family/co-workers who are sick. We look forward to celebrating with you at a later date!
While we would be delighted to celebrate our special day with you, for the health and safety of our loved ones, please stay home if you are not feeling well. We look forward to celebrating with you when you are feeling better!
We will be in fancy traditional wedding attire. You are encouraged to wear what makes you feel the most comfortable. San Francisco in June can be any combination of sunny, cool, overcast and foggy. We encourage you to check the weather and bring layers. Grass friendly shoes are a good idea too!
Yes, there are bathrooms at San Francisco City Hall and at Lafayette Park. The bathroom at Lafayette Park is a 2-5 minute walk through the park.
