Tyler and Brittany have been attending the same church for several years, knowing of each other but never connecting outside of the weekend services. The real beginning of their story was at a University of Louisiana Baseball Game when Brittany called Tyler's name in the middle of a crowded entrance gate. It was the greatest case of whiplash he ever got, becoming a turning point for both of them. Tyler had some extra tickets for her and her parents to sit by him, which was enough time for him to realize that there was something very special about her. It was right after both of them celebrated birthdays in the middle of May, almost 2 months later, that Tyler finally asked Brittany on a date, and the rest is history. While neither of them necessarily like to admit it, the final push that got them started was when their pastor called Tyler out from the stage on a Sunday telling all the single girls that he was available. Brittany knew she had to act fast after this, and Tyler saw that this was the 'first pitch' he'd been waiting for. To those who know it in its entirety, their story is an amazing testimony of the redeeming love of Jesus, and how two people can so perfectly compliment, challenge, and balance each other.
It was on the 6th month anniversary of the day they began their relationship that Tyler finally asked Brittany to marry him. The day was all planned out as a surprise for Brittany to celebrate the special milestone, starting with a 'private tour' of Russo Park, the baseball field where they first connected. Mr. Ken Meyers, a friend from the church and the chaplain of the UL Baseball Team managed to arrange a private viewing of the stadium and field where Brittany and Tyler were able to walk onto the field; they had the whole place to themselves. It was there, between the pitcher's mound and home plate that Tyler retold the story of how God had brought them together, presenting the ticket from the game they met at, and getting down on one knee. She said yes!
