Whether you’re traveling from afar or rediscovering a favorite corner of the Puget Sound, this area offers endless ways to unwind, explore, and soak up the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. From charming seaside towns and scenic hikes to whale watching, beaches, and island adventures, we hope you’ll take some time to enjoy everything this special place has to offer. A note about having a Washington State Parks pass:

All wedding guests will receive a Deception State Parks Pass for the duration of the wedding. However, If you decide to drive and explore other state parks in the area, you will need to acquire a State Parks Pass. You will likely be able to borrow one from a local, or day passes are available for purchase at kiosks inside each park.

One of Washington’s most iconic destinations, Deception Pass offers rugged cliffs, sweeping beaches, forested trails, and of course the famous bridge that connects Whidbey Island to Fidalgo Island. It’s a great spot for easy walks, tide pooling, photos, or a sunset stroll.

This quick hike is located just outside of the Cornet Bay Retreat Center accessible by trail only. This is the highest point on Whidbey Island and in Deception Pass State Park. Goose Rock summit boasts incredible views of Mount Baker and the Olympic Mountains.

Rosario Beach in Deception Pass State Park offers fantastic, family-friendly tide pooling on its north side, revealing sea stars, anemones, and crabs at low tide. The tide pools are accessible via a short walk from the parking lot with marked trails to protect fragile life. Before going check with the tide charts for the lowest tide and stick to paths to preserve the ecosystem. Plan a visit during a negative low tide to see the most marine life, and try combining it with the scenic Rosario Head loop trail for stunning views of the Salish Sea and Deception Pass Bridge.
