Patrick and Emma agreed to meet for a first date at a local brewery in Maine. They hit it off and both felt there was an immediate connection. Alas, misfortune temporarily befell this modern day love story. After the very successful first date, a breakdown in communication due to a wrong number led to a short pause in the courtship. The mistake was soon discovered when Emma realized she had in fact been texting a random person's number in the greater Bangor, Maine region. After texting Patrick's real cell phone number, a second date was arranged - and the rest is history.
After a year courtship long in Maine, Emma proposed to Patrick - that they move cross country and live on a Native American Reservation in rural New Mexico. Always up for an adventure, and also completely and totally in love, Patrick enthusiastically agreed. Fast forward another year. After a particularly grueling week of practicing medicine on "the rez", Emma was ready to sleep in on a Saturday in December. Unfortunately for Emma's sleeping-in plans, Patrick had a proposal planned and thus, forced his beautiful future bride to get out of bed at 5:00am for a mass balloon ascension in Gallup, New Mexico. Little did Emma know this event would also serve as the beautiful backdrop for a well planned and perfectly executed scenic proposal by Patrick. Despite being dragged out of bed at 5am, Emma still said yes to the marriage proposal!
In June of 2020, Emma and Patrick tied the knot in Downtown Santa fe. It was a very small ceremony presided over by the honorable Judge Montoya (whom the groom had to bribe to perform a ceremony during a pandemic when things were still shut down in New Mexico.)
The goal after the small legal ceremony in New Mexico was to have a big in-person party on the lake and celebration of Patrick and Emma's marriage. Patrick and Emma CAN'T WAIT to celebrate with their friends and family this August in Maine!
