The happy couple met in December of 2016, during their sophomore year of college at Washington State University, at the Honors College annual Yule Ball. They probably had 20 mutual friends, but were strangers until Taylan asked Summer to be his swing dancing partner. They've been together ever since! Taylan and Summer dated through the rest of college, and even took some classes together! After graduating with their Bachelor's degrees in Chemical Engineering and Animal Sciences, they endured three years of long-distance while Taylan pursued his career, and Summer attended veterinary school. While they missed each other dearly, they made time to see each other most weekends. In March of 2022, during Summer's 4th year of veterinary school, Taylan popped the question during their vacation in La Jolla, California. They went on a morning hike with their friends Taylor and Katy (who were in on the surprise). Although Summer was confused why everyone was dressed so nicely for a hike, she was happily surprised when Taylan got on one knee at the end of the hike - with views of the ocean and the famous Torrey Pines cliffs behind them. Summer graduated veterinary school in May of 2022, and joined Taylan in Richland, Washington. They now live together happily with their three pets: Parsley and Mousse (cats), and Colby Jack (Golden Retriever). Taylan is currently working as a nuclear remediation engineer at the Hanford site, and Summer is working as a general practitioner + emergency veterinarian. In their free time, Taylan and Summer enjoy hiking and paddleboarding with Colby, renovating their home, and taking Latin dance classes. On August 10th, 2023, Summer and Taylan eloped in a private ceremony with their parents and dog, Colby Jack. As lovers of adventure and the outdoors, Taylan and Summer chose to have a mountaintop ceremony in Glacier, Washington. Summer & Taylan, while already married, are excited to formally celebrate with friends and family this summer!
