We met back in January of 2016, I was a sophomore at Auburn, previously came from Southern Union Wadley, and Sawyer was just a freshman. Unknowingly I had to take another science course because I wasted my time at Southern Union taking one Biology and one Chemistry when you're supposed to just take two of the same course. Biology wasn't that fun so I chose chemistry. Knowing that Auburn would be a lot harder, I was worried that I was going to be the stupidest person in the room full of people that made 36's on their ACT's, however, this was far from the truth. I ended up attending the 8am classes just to find out in chemistry lab that most people just went to the SI meetings in the late afternoon because the teacher was super helpful and explained everything to the students like they were basically in the 5th grade. Very helpful. Much attended. The person that brought this to my attention was, you guessed it, Sawyer Jones. My first day at the lab went a little like this.... I was awkwardly put in a group of students that previously ALL had class together last semester and of course I was the oldest. The only person that introduced themselves was Sawyer. He was wearing a purple and white stripped shirt and his hair was swooshed over his face. "Hey, what's your name?" he asked and waved his hand. "Hey.... Summer." and that's it. That's how the first day went, and I had no idea that this guy would end up meaning so much to me. Since I was the only one in our group that did the work, it got Sawyer talking to me, us sharing answers, meeting up before class to do quizzes, and attending SI together. He always gave me butterflies every time I saw him. We eventually went on our first date to a lame play at Shakespeare and I actually ran into my best friend, Sam! Sawyer and I have grown a lot over the 4 years we've been together. We've built businesses together, and it's been hard, but no one motivates me like he does. I can't wait to see what our future holds! -Summer
