The dress code for our wedding is black tie optional. We ask that men wear a tuxedo or a dark suit with a tie, and women wear an evening gown or a midi- or knee-length cocktail dress.
Make sure your passport is valid for the duration of your trip to Ireland. While Ireland does not require U.S. passports to have a specific number of months remaining, we strongly recommend that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your return date to avoid any issues with airlines or border control. If your passport is expired or expiring soon, please allow plenty of time to renew it, as processing times can take several weeks.
No—U.S. citizens do not need a visa for short visits to Ireland (for tourism or visiting friends and family) lasting up to 90 days. If you plan to travel to other countries in the UK or the EU during your stay, be sure to review their separate entry requirements in advance.
UK Tourism - U.S. citizens traveling to the UK for tourism need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The ETA is mandatory, costs around $14 USD, is valid for two years, and should be applied for via the official UK ETA website or app at least 3 days before travel. EU Tourism - Starting in late 2026, U.S. citizens traveling to 30 European countries for short stays (up to 90 days in a 180-day period) will need to obtain an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) travel authorization. It is a mandatory online, pre-travel screening for visa-exempt travelers, costing roughly $8–$23 and valid for multiple entries. Please make sure to look up the authorization requirements for your travel prior to or after he wedding! If you are traveling outside of Ireland before or after the wedding, please make sure to review the country’s travel requirements. See the travel tab for the link to the ETIAS and ETA application.
