Our story started with a little matchmaking magic. Summer works with Behrens’s mom at Edwin’s Elementary, and after we became friends, she told me more than once that I had to meet her son. She was certain we’d hit it off, and she couldn’t have been more right. I remember thinking Behrens was so funny, kind, and, of course, very handsome. He thought I was beautiful, fun, and smart (even though he was too sick to kiss me goodbye that night)! I assumed he just wasn’t that into me, but the joke was on me, because he definitely was. After that, we were inseparable. He went back home to Jacksonville, and we FaceTimed for hours every night, talking about everything and nothing until we fell asleep. There was never a “just friends” phase. We were strangers, and then we were everything to each other. One of our favorite early memories was our second date. Behrens came back to Destin and had planned what we lovingly call the “mega date.” He showed up in the morning with my favorite flowers and donuts, and we spent the entire day together: the beach, lunch, movies, dinner, and the sunset. Fourteen hours straight of laughter, talking, and feeling completely at home with each other. It was the best day ever, and from then on, we knew this was forever. After a year and a half together, Behrens proposed on the beach, surrounded by both of our families. It was beautiful, us, and the easiest decision of our lives. Now, we’re excited to continue building a life full of love, laughter, and adventure in our new home. And one day, to see each other as parents. On our wedding day, we look forward to taking everything in together and dancing with all of our favorite people. Forever here we come.
