Ward Mountain Campground is located 10 miles from Ely, Nevada and about 4 hours from Las Vegas, NV. It sits at an elevation of 7,400 feet so weather during the summer should be in the 80s during the day and could drop down as low as the 40s at night. The site has bathrooms, picnic tables, grills/fire rings, horseshoe pits, and hiking trails. Water is available during peak season - but is NOT guaranteed. There are plenty of spots for tents, trailers, and RV's. FYI There are no hook-ups available for RV's and trailers. Pets and kids are welcome. More information about the campsite here: https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campsites/73572 We're organizing meals Friday evening through Sunday morning for everyone who RSVP's and we'll be asking folks to pitch in with money towards the food and help with cooking and cleaning during meal times. Please bring your own snacks and beverages and a way to keep things cold. Friday night we'll play lawn games, Saturday night we can go for an optional hike and in the evening we have a silent disco to get your groove on in the woods. If you're new to camping and don't have all the "gear" - don't worry about it! As long as you bring what you need to be comfortable sleeping and hanging out during the day you're good. We have a core group packing anything needed related to cooking and eating.
It was summer solstice back in 2009 in a tiny Alaskan fishing town called Ketchikan. The best solstice party was one way out of town in a bar called "Hole-in-the-Wall." We both planned on meeting up there as we had just started to hang-out. Both were relying on hitch-hiking to the party so inevitably didn't end up being there at the same time. We both went home that night bummed we didn't get to see each other and sulking around at an otherwise banger. That's the night we both knew we were into each other and have been ever since. Some couples celebrate their first kiss or first date as their anniversary - we like to celebrate the night we started missing each other.
