Summer & Jorge's Wedding Week

Do

For those of you coming from out of town, here are some of our favorite local spots and things to do locally and in the Bay Area. Please keep in mind that hours may be limited on Thanksgiving Day.

Casino Bar & Grill

17000 Bodega Highway, Bodega, CA 94922

A sweet local bar and grill where we'll be hosting our wedding dinner. It's next door to where Hitchcock filmed "The Birds."

Sonoma Coast Villa

16702 Shoreline Highway, Bodega, CA 94922

We've never been here, but it's close to where our wedding dinner will be taking place. We recommend booking here on Wednesday night if you're driving yourself; it's just minutes from where we'll be eating.

LandPaths Grove of Old Trees

17599 Fitzpatrick Lane, Occidental, CA 95465

If you stay the night in Sonoma County on Wednesday, stop by these redwoods on Thursday. Make sure to look it up on your map before you head that way, as you'll likely lose reception. Simply beautiful!

Avenues San Francisco

3606 Taraval Street, San Francisco, CA 94116

Our dear friends, the local cafe and surf shop, which is open every day until 3 p.m. Go there for Kimchi Spam & Egg Musubi and Horchata Cold Brew.

Andytown Coffee Roasters

800 Great Highway, San Francisco, CA 94121

Another great coffee shop and surf shop, right on Ocean Beach. Great place to grab a latte or a fancy coffee drink —we love the iced Snowy Plover (yes, it's named after a local bird), which is infused with sparkling water and homemade whipped cream.

Boa's CVC

3951 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

Great local space that's generally open all day for coffee, yummy bites, and drinks. Happy hour is from 3-5 p.m., and we highly suggest their spritz.

Simple Pleasures Cafe

3434 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

An Outer Richmond gem, Simple Pleasures has been a mainstay local coffee shop and roaster since 1978. Go there rain or shine, night or day.

The Coffee Movement

1737 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

A very hip and sweet local coffee shop. They offer very yummy seasonal lattes.

Breadbelly

1408 Clement Street, San Francisco, CA 94118

Hands down, Summer's favorite neighborhood bakery. Get the Black Sesame Cappuccino along with an Egg Sandwich and/or Kaya Bun. Really, you can't go wrong with anything here.

Laundromat Pizza

3725 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

Our favorite neighborhood pizza spot. There's often a line, so put your name in early and go on a walk. It's well worth the wait. Get the kale salad and pepperoni pizza, and finish it off with a cannoli.

Slake Bottle & Sundry

3239 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

Our favorite bottle shop. Get the very best wine, beer, and spirits from our dear friend Daniel. Open most nights.

Hook Fish Co

4542 Irving Street, San Francisco, CA 94122

The spot to go to for fish tacos. On a sunny day, it gets really busy, so order ahead online. While there is no seating, there's a great patio out front.

Balboa Theatre

3630 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

A super special old movie theatre in our neighborhood. Go there to see a new film or a throwback.

San Francisco Botanical Garden

1199 9th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94122

Here you can see redwoods and plants from around the world. A must-see in our opinion!

Conservatory of Flowers

100 John F Kennedy Drive, San Francisco, CA 94118

A historic greenhouse built in 1879. It is the oldest public wood-and-glass conservatory in North America, home to many interesting plant species.

Lands End Trail

Lands End Trail, San Francisco, CA 94121

One of the most incredible hikes in the city, which happens to be nearby. See the ocean, the bay, and (on a sunny day) the Golden Gate Bridge. The whole thing is about 4 miles.

de Young Museum

50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, San Francisco, CA 94118

An incredible art museum located right in Golden Gate Park. Lots of incredible pieces in here, as well as rotating exhibitions.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

151 3rd Street, San Francisco, CA 94103

While a bit further away from our house, an incredible modern art museum. Worth the drive if you have the time.

Rampant Bottle & Bar

3516 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

Our very hip local wine-and-beer bar. Great place to people watch. Their happy hour is also 3 to 5 p.m.

WenChang Dumpling Restaurant

1650 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

Incredibly yummy local dumpling spot. Very small but lots of incredible traditional dishes.

Han Il Kwan

1802 Balboa Street, San Francisco, CA 94121

Delicious Korean BBQ spot. Don't go in your favorite shirt, because you'll walk away happy and smelling smoky.
