How We Met

Angels Landing - Known for its steep inclines, treacherous switchbacks, and breathtaking views, is by far the most challenging and grueling trail Utah’s Zion National Park has to offer. It was a typical hot and sweltering August afternoon and Aditya was trying to conquer this natural wonder. Young, agile and full of energy, he was zipping along the trail, running, and jumping off of boulders like a gazelle. He could feel the hot dry desert wind whipping his face, it almost felt as if he was flying. He was racing against time trying to make it to the top and back before sun down. That’s when tragedy struck! An off balance landing resulted in a twisted ankle and Aditya was grounded. He could barely put any weight on his right foot and couldn’t move. There wasn’t anyone around to help, being a hot day there weren’t many people on the trail to begin with. He wasn’t prepared for an injury, he didn’t have a cell phone or a first aid kit. Athletic ability and youth corrupted his judgement and made him arrogant and now he was paying the price. Aditya was stranded, hurt and tired with no savior in sight, the sun was setting and the situation looked bleak. He had to think of something soon if he wished to survive, and then in the light of the setting sun he saw a silhouette of a woman making her way back from the top of the trail. It was Sumeta. She spotted Aditya on the ground clutching his right ankle, and understood what had happened. Unlike Aditya, she was prepared. Sumeta had a backpack full of essentials. She quickly reached for her first aid kit and pulled out a bandage and started to wrap his ankle. He couldn’t help but wonder who this beautiful woman was? Kind, gentle, and brave enough to help a random stranger, she must be someone special. She helped him up and he was able to gingerly put his foot on the ground. He looked into her eyes and that’s when he realized that the Angel had landed…

How We Met Contd.

Zola didn't appreciate the word count, so we had to split the story.....

If we had to write (we just did...) a “How we met” story it would probably be along the lines (lines.. hehehe) of what you just read. A romance for the ages that would be told for generations to come, but in reality we both swiped right. (WHAT?!?! Don’t tell me you actually fell for the Utah-Ankle-Angel crap?). We finally decided to meet, after a month of texting back and forth, that’s right ONE MONTH of texting!!! Our first date was at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis where we quickly realized we were two little kids passing as adults with a penchant for corny jokes. One thing lead to another, a few dates, several miles on I-65, one diamond, and well, here we are now. Since the truth is rather anticlimactic and makes for a boring “how we met” of any conversation, I guess we’re going to stick with the Utah-Ankle-Angel story for now :)
