In 2015, we both attended Dragon*Con in Atlanta and connected through a mutual friend. One pair of space pants and a coffee date at Waffle House later, we came away from the weekend as fast friends.

On Labor Day weekend 2019, exactly four years after the weekend we met, Mike arranged a getaway in Monte Sano State Park. There, with our furry friend Kalima by our side, he proposed with a hand-made ring.
