How We Met

Growing up a town apart, Molly and Daniel had one thing in common: youth group. In the summer of 2012, this connection brought the two together during a game in which partners were constantly being switched. Molly caught Daniel’s eye, as they were paired together and had to hold hands. Molly was drawn to Daniel as well, even adding him as a friend on Facebook later that night. Yet, Daniel didn’t get the message that the crush was mutual. In fact, it took Daniel an entire year before he made a move. In April of 2013, Daniel messaged Molly on Facebook for her number, which she gladly gave. Shortly thereafter, the two went on their first date, neon green indoor soccer shoes and all. As we all know, Molly is indecisive, but poor Daniel didn’t know yet. Trying to be polite, he made her choose where to eat, and Molly decided on Applebee’s. Molly’s first “red flag” went up when Daniel ordered honey mustard and ranch to go with his chicken tenders, two condiments of which she does not like. However, the awkward first date conversation was good enough to save him, and they ended up back at Molly’s watching John Tucker Must Die, a slight “red flag” for Daniel. Still, the two enjoyed each other’s company and ended up hanging out during the entirety of Spring Break. Shortly after, Daniel asked Molly to be his girlfriend, to which she of course said yes. To this day, Molly claims that her 2013 Spring Break was her most productive ever, gaining a job, her first smart phone, and a boyfriend all in one week.

Our Love Story

4.6.13

After Daniel’s beautiful senior prom a few weeks later, Molly and Daniel spent the entire summer together, during which they shared their first kiss. Standing in the foyer of Daniel’s house, he went in for a good-bye kiss on the cheek. However, Molly misread the situation and went in for a full-blown kiss. It was then and there that Daniel knew he had a good one. Soon, it was time for Daniel to head to Ohio State for his freshmen year, while Molly stays in Toledo for senior year. Not knowing their ability to keep a long-distance relationship strong, Daniel attempted to end it with Molly. Of course, she refused, and the two agreed to try their hardest to make the distance work. Over the course of the next five years, the two would take turns visiting each other at school, the prize of seeing each other each time was worth all the time apart, spending their entire summer’s in Toledo together as well. When Molly headed to Florence, Italy for the Spring 2017 semester, technology kept them connected, and she returned even more in love than ever. The instant Daniel graduated from OSU and Molly touched back down onto American soil, the engagement they had been talking about was officially fair game.

Engagement Story

10.1.17

At the beginning of the fall of 2017, Daniel decided he couldn’t wait a day longer to be engaged to the love of his life. Labor Day weekend, he visited Molly at school and planned the event. Making it seem like a day of random adventures around Kent State, the day ended at a spot the two of them have always loved. While setting up hammocks in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, on the top of a ledge overlooking the Cuyahoga river as the sun set over the tree tops, Daniel dropped to his knee and pulled out the small green box Molly would instantly recognize. However, during what is perhaps one of the biggest moment of both of their lives, Molly giggled, thinking the proposal was a joke, as Daniel had taken a knee to “tie his shoe” or taken a knee while grabbing socks from his drawer. She eventually understood this one was serious and became flushed with excitement as she saw her custom ring for the first time. As plans were already set into place for that night, the two celebrated their engagement with dinner and a night with friends.
