How We Met

Not So Old Fashioned

Lauren's side: Well, as most of you already know, we met the very old fashioned way...online (Bumble). We matched, Matt extended his time on our match because I had not made a move yet, I said hello, we exchanged numbers and set up a time to meet up. Our first "date" was at Shadygrove in Shadyside. We sat at the bar and talked for hours. I can still remember Matt leaning in to say something because the bar was starting to get loud and he touched his hand to mine and that's when the butterflies started and they never stopped. We set up another date and another and another and it did not take long for us to realize what was happening and how special it was and is. We fell in love fast and this whirlwind romance is turning into an eternal love story on July 18th. Matt's side: We met on a dating app called Bumble where we matched. The way bumble works is that once matched the application only lets the woman send the first message within a 24 hour period. Almost a full day went by and I hadn't heard anything from her and I had the option to use my extension (the app lets you pick one person to increase the time window on). I extended without any hesitation. Finally after messaging back and forth with her she agreed to go on a date with me to "Shadygrove" we talked and talked and right then and there I knew she was the one. From there its been one incredible day after another.

Proposal

April 13, 2019

Matt and Lauren took a weekend trip to Niagara Falls during Lauren's spring break. On Saturday they spent the day in a small town 20 minutes outside of Niagara Falls - Niagara-on-the-Lake. They went to Peller Estates Winery where Lauren spilled wine all over Matt (luckily he was wearing a black shirt!). From there, they drove into town and had lunch at an Irish pub and then took a carriage ride around town. Then, they walked down to Queen's Royal Park on Lake Ontario. They wanted to take a picture in the beautiful gazebo on the lake (which they say is good luck to kiss under), but a wedding party was occupying it, so the two of them walked down to the water for a bit. Matt told Lauren "let's wait until 5 to see if the wedding party leaves." So, they waited, but the bridal party looked no where near to being done. Matt then asked Lauren to take a selfie (his cue to the photographer he was about to propose) and began to propose to Lauren. He got down on one knee and asked Lauren to marry him. It was beautiful and perfect! They then took some photos with the photographer and called, text, and face timed family and friends to share the special news!
